ENTRY 03 - FINDING RHYTHM
Presence. Intention. Craft.
FEBRUARY 5, 2026 - PORTLAND, OR - SUNNY - 55F
What I noticed
- Irritable and impatient at the start. I could feel it in my body as soon as I began.
- Questioning my right to take this time in the middle of the day for a run.
- The hunger for more of this trail craft—thinking about it when I’m not doing it.
What worked
- Setting a simple aim: find rhythm, even with heavy legs.
- A good warm-up at home, then power hiking the first steep pitch. More fluidity arrived after.
- Settling into a comfortable effort—mostly Z2 with touches of Z3.
- Cues: light hands; occasional body scan for where I’m holding stress; a stride that stays long, light, and unforced.
In the margin
Arms of light breaking through the canopy, warm air around my body—enough to bring me back to the present. Confidence in the right effort.
